Visitors' Center
Just arrived in town? Need a map? Looking for a list of current events? Restaurants? Lodging? Need a restroom? Looking for FREE Wi-Fi?
Stop at the Suttons Bay Visitor Center. Turn toward the water on Madison Street at the Red Phone Booth and follow the signs to the lower level of the Millside Building. Staffed entirely with volunteers, the Visitor Center will open for summer business on Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26 (closed Sunday and Monday, Memorial Day). Regular weekly business hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, throughout the summer. Closed on Sundays. Phone: (231) 271-5077
The Visitor Center will be CLOSED on JULY 4th.
Other bathrooms are located at the South Shore Park south of town, and the North Park just north of town, and at the Suttons Bay Marina (open until 8pm).
The back room of the Visitor Center is now a Wi-Fi Lounge this summer. The Wi-Fi is FREE so come down and hang out there (you'll have to bring your own coffee, though).
We also have a little puppet theatre and toys for kids to play with while you look through our collection of visitor info.
New this summer, the Visitor Center is hosting wine-tasting events featuring member of the Suttons Bay Chamber. Drop by on the last Friday of the month from 5:00 pm through 7:00 pm and enjoy complimentary local wines! Here's the schedule:
May 25 - Black Star Farms Winery
June 29 - Circa Estate Winery
July 27 - Willow Vineyard
August 31 - L. Mawby (sparkling wines)
Also at the SB Visitor Center in conjunction with the LEELANAU BIRDFEST running from May 30 to June 1 (more details on the birdfest at mibirdfest.com.)
On Thursday, May 31 and Saturday, June 2, the Visitors Center will hold a BIRD AND BUG SAFARI from 9p to 10am for children 5 and up. Join naturalist Ann McInnis for a safari through the "jungle" of the Suttons Bay marina wetland on the boardwalk booking for bird and insect life. Binoculars provided. Meet in front of the center at 9am.
Following the Safari on both days, enjoy the BIRD BEAKS ADVENTURE at the center from 10am to 11am with Jan Ostrowski. Learn how birds snag their food with their beaks. Become a hummingbird, woodcock, cardinal, mallard and barn swallow. Different "beak stations" around the room allow everyone to participate. Suggested age 5 and up.
Come and check the place out!
